SYNOPSIS: In the rural countryside of Kentucky in 1967, a runaway teen greaser named John who is looking for a fresh start hitches a ride with an older gentleman named Teddy. John is hesitant to open up at first, but admits that Teddy reminds him of his late grandfather. Teddy offers John some moonshine and a ride for as far as he’s going. John, anxious to get away from his old home, happily accepts. Before parting ways on a remote backroad, Teddy tells John he is a surveyor and asks if he would help him dig up a land sample in exchange for a meal and a ride to a truck stop. Seeming like the safest option, John agrees and the two embark deep into the woods. As they break ground, Teddy asks some more personal questions about John’s abusive past that Teddy relates to. The deeper they dig the more things start to feel off. Teddy lets John know he’s been lied to. There was never a land sample to dig, but rather buried riches with secrets so dark they catalyze a struggle for survival amongst the two.
